January 15, 2007 -- The Manitoba Aquaculture Producer's Association was pleased to be an advertiser in the 2006 Winter Edition of Farmer's Voice adjacent to an article discussing some of the challenges facing the Aquaculture Industry on the Prairies.

The article, Fish farming on the Prairies, Is Manitoba missing the boat on Aquaculture? was researched & written by Cheryl Parisien, a writer for the Keystone Agricultural Producer's magazine, Farmer's Voice. During her research Cheryl talked to a number of existing and would be producers as well as researchers from the University of Manitoba. The article is enlightening and Cheryl has quoted a number of people who have over the years contributed to the development of the industry here in Manitoba.

The article highlights a number of the challenges that the industry faces here in Manitoba and the Prairies as a whole, while relaying the underlying message that Aquaculture is one of the fastest growing Agri-food industries in the world as the population increases and wild fish stocks continue to decline.

The industry needs more positive press like this.
